Maple trees
Maple trees are classified under the Aceraceae family, due to the precise arrangement and shapes of their leaves. The leaves` vibrant and varied hues make maple trees an attractive addition to any property. Over the centuries, these trees have evolved to produce clusters of flowers and small seeds, which are vital for the propagation of the species. Japanese Maples are actually pretty easy to please in the home landscape. They like to be planted where they get some protection from the sun, but most need a good deal of sun to maintain their vivid color. They do not like wet feet. Don`t plant them in wet or soggy soil. If you have heavy clay build a raised bed before you plant. They do not like a lot of fertilizer. They are slow growing and can only use a minimal amount of nitrogen. If you plant them in good rich soil you will not have to fertilize them at all. That`s about it. Water as needed but don`t soak the roots daily. They prefer soil that is on the dry side. Just not bone dry. Prepare the soil where you want to plant your maple tree by adding some sand, if the soil in not well-drained, and add some peat moss and compost if you have it. Maples can survive in just about any soil, but the more nutrients the better, especially when the tree is young, and the soil must be well-draining. Maple tree planting in good soil is a key to the overall success of your maple tree. Make sure you dig a big hole for your maple tree, too, to allow the roots to spread out after you plant it. A good rule of thumb is to dig the hole four times bigger than the size of the root ball. These maple trees are gaining in popularity because of their fall colour. Some maples give a brilliant red colour while others are a spectacular yellow. Some can even end up giving you several colours ranging from red through yellow and orange, and all on the very same tree. When picking maple trees, you should know which colours you want according to their species, so that you know what to expect and whether it is the colour you prefer showing up in your garden. Keep in mind that when living outside of their ideal zone range, many maple trees tend not to give out their regular colours.
